The Design Team offers St. Cloud and surrounding areas stunning home plans in a variety of styles. This month we are focusing on a feature no one can ever have too much of…storage! For starters, let's talk closets. There are two main styles of built-in closets: lineal, or reach-in, and walk-in. Walk-in closets typically start at about 5’x5’ and can be as large as space allows. These can include a standard single rod and shelf, or possibly two rows of rod and shelf; closet organizers, and/ or shelving. Walk-in closets are popular in master suites, often including a stackable washer and dryer or ironing board for convenience. Modern designs may creatively incorporate sleek built-ins in lieu of a walk-in closet. The Design Team loves innovative designs as much as the classics, or any combination of both. Closet organizer companies are also increasingly popular and The Design Team can make some great recommendations! Built-ins are also great for the mudroom area and may include lockers, cubbies, benches, walk-in or reach-in closets. Looking for seasonal storage? Storage under stairwells? The Design Team can draft any of these into your home plans. Finally, think exterior storage. We design everything from sheds and garages to garage extensions that include storage—perhaps storage trusses built into your roof space and accessible by ladder, or pull-down stairs. Attic trusses can also add extra storage or even living space. Your options are endless! We have designs for all seasons at The Design Team. Call today for your free consultation (320) 252-1517.
The Design Team offers St. Cloud and surrounding areas stunning home plans in a variety of styles. This month we are focusing on a key feature in home design: porch styles!
Open air porches are covered porches, typically in the front of the house, giving it curb appeal. They dress up the front of your home, can be used for lounging and grilling, and support columns can add functionality to your form.
Screen porches have summer appeal! Enjoy the outdoors without all the harsh rays and bugs. Screen porches expand your living space, and help bring the outdoors in. They are ideal for relaxation any time of day.
3-season porches are unheated, but may have windows as well as screens. Typically they will have an exterior door between the porch and your living space. With insulation and another heat source, a 3-season porch may be enjoyed longer, or converted to a 4-season porch over time.
4-season sunrooms are a step above porches, offering a heated space with lots of windows that can be enjoyed all year round. These rooms are great for relaxation, serving as a retreat for those who enjoy sunshine, and range from smaller size to as large as your great room …the choices are endless! Sunrooms typically extend off the back of the home, with south side orientation being ideal. They can extend off the dining or living room if you choose.

The Design Team offers St. Cloud and surrounding areas stunning home plans in a variety of styles. This month we are focusing on a key feature in home design: exterior finishes. Exterior finishes make up the face your home presents to the world, as well as adding energy-efficiency and protection from the elements. Vinyl and steel siding are maintenance-free, less expensive options. They come in predetermined colors, or can be painted, as they hold paint longer than wood. They come in a variety of shapes such as shakes, board, and batten. Another popular option is Cedar Creek siding, offering a rustic specialty siding. Rich, earthy stains give a look of real wood. Redwood materials are also coming back into style. Blending designs is another option, using wider siding on the bottom, narrower on top. Stone, stucco, and brick...so many options to choose from!
