The Design Team (St. Cloud, MN) knows energy-efficient homes are increasing in popularity every day. They save you money, and increase the value of your home considerably! Not only that, but energy-efficient homes are more comfortable and durable. The Department of Energy sponsors programs such as "Zero Energy Ready Home (ZERH)," which helps builders become knowledgeable about new construction methods that improve the energy efficiency of newly-built homes. Through the ZERH program, homes typically become 40%-50% more energy-efficient than a typical home construction!
A new home being built in Sartell, MN, was inspired by ZERH. The Design Team incorporated many of the latest energy-efficient ideas into this design, including foam insulation on the outside of the wall to reduce thermal bridging and cut heat loss. When you are looking for the best value and most energy-efficient designs around, trust the Design Team. We look forward to drawing you into the house of your dreams!

The Design Team (St. Cloud, MN) knows that there is often a disparity between the home you would ideally like to have, and what you can realistically afford. Don't despair! The Design Team is here with our expert staff right on hand to help you get the most out of your budget. Scaling back doesn't necessarily mean you have to cut corners, or even sacrifice all those details you want to include. That's where the Design Team comes in. We can help you design your dream home with an eye to maximizing results within your budget. You may not need an oversized home. Corners and angles can add to cost, whereas a steeper roof can save it. As for bids, it's a good idea not to get too many and get bogged down and overwhelmed. Every builder is unique, but in general $150-$220 per square foot is common, depending on details. Trust in the Design Team and we will help you every step of the way to navigate all your options. Call the Design Team today to get started on bringing your dream to life!

History of the Salt Box Colonial
The salt box started as a small farm house and grew in size because it was added to over the years. Lean-tos were often added to the rear of the house, extending the roof on a steep slope. The rear of the house was oriented to the north to ward off biting winter winds. Its name comes from its resemblance to a box that salt was shipped in from Europe to America.
